Why should I and how do I link my phone number to my smartphone?

Tricount allows your friends to select you from their contact list in order to invite you to join some tricounts.
The link between your phone number and your smartphone is done automatically when you click on a text message invite sent by Tricount. It allows you to see the list of tricounts to which you are invited in the app and be notified.
If Tricount has linked your device to a phone number, the latter will be indicated at the bottom of ‘My settings’ screen once you are logged in.
